About the Instructor

Hi, I'm Celia. I am a certified childbirth educator and HypnoBirthing® instructor. I was trained as a birth/postpartum doula and have assist women giving birth in the Bay Area.

I myself was born at home and gave birth to my son at home, trusting my body to lead the way. Without knowing at the time, I used self-hypnosis in my labor. I was left feeling so ecstatic about my birth experience, it inspired me to learn how to give this gift to other people preparing for birth.

Questions & answers about the class

Who should attend?

  • First time moms-to-be

  • Experienced moms wanting a better birth

  • Moms wanting a vaginal birth after c-section (VBAC)

  • Dads and partners who want to know how to be an awesome birth support

What do I need for my mini class? What should I bring?

I recommend you wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in. Bring a notebook and pen if you want to take notes, but it's not required.

What does the class cost and where does it take place?

The course costs $250 per couple. Your course materials (book, CD, accompanying folder) are included. It will take place in my home in North Berkeley.

What about the payment?

After you submit your registration form, you'll be redirected to a payment page. Payment plans are available upon request.

What if I'm a single parent?

The course fee covers any birth companion (partner, doula, friend, mother, etc.) but you are also welcome to participate on your own. It is definitely worth bringing along the person who will accompany you in birth, as many exercises are learned in which the birth companion plays a major role.

What if I need to cancel?

If you signed up for a class and need to cancel, please let me know as soon as possible. If you notify me two weeks in advance AND if I find someone to take your spot, you will get a full refund. If I am unable to fill your spot you will receive 75% of your fee. If you cancel less than 2 weeks before the class and I am unable to fill your spot, there will be no refund.  Once the class has started, there will be no refunds issued. If you have to cancel because of a medical emergency, I will make every effort to fill your spot and give you a partial or full refund.

What if the class is canceled?

If a course or appointment is canceled by the course instructor due to emergency or being called to a birth, it will be made up in a reasonable time. If this is not possible, she will seek a replacement by a HypnoBirthing colleague.

Do I still need another birth preparation class?

This class provides the tools to prepare and be ready for birth. If you want to participate in another birth preparation course in addition, you are welcome to do so.

Is this class for me even if I have a planned cesarean or high risk pregnancy?

Yes! Learning how to deeply relax and be empowered in your choices is valuable in any type of birth.

Becky K.

"Celia is a wonderful HypnoBirthing teacher. From her warmth and positive energy to her calm demeanor, she is a dependable support system to mothers seeking a natural birthing experience. I couldn't recommend her more as a joyful and enthusiastic sidekick through your pregnancy journey!"

Jake T.

"Celia helped us get antiquated with the ideas of HypnoBirthing and make the entire process much easier and natural. She helped us cut through the clutter to learn what was important and empower ourselves. During the birth, she came with us to the hospital and her voice was so soothing for my wife - the same voice that she heard during our meetings with her and some of our practice mediations."

Lauren K.

"Working with Celia as our home birth doula was such a gift. She gave my husband the opportunity to get some much needed sleep, eat meals and know that I was in good hands. Her ability to stay grounded in her body allowed my nervous system to follow suit. We both so appreciated her calm and graceful presence and I found that she was so able to help my body clear out tension in between contractions. We had a wonderful experience and highly recommend her!"
